IFRS workshop

 Who should attend?

This two-day seminar is designed for CFO’s, accountants, audit committee members, finance managers, auditors and information technology managers.

This seminar will provide guidance to prepare for a smooth transition to IFRS. Changing to IFRS is a global standardisation to move from a rules-based financial reporting standard to one that is principles-based.

 Objectives and benefits

Learning objective:

The objective of this seminar is to examine the major differences and similarities between local GAAP and IFRS. This presentation will explain and illustrate the effects of these differences on banking financial statements. It will also describe the context in which IFRS are developed, and review the IASB-FASB convergence plan and IASB active agenda items.

Benefits:

  • Individuals will be able to assess their personal development requirements and plan for their further training needs
  • The seminar and learning materials will provide participants with an understanding of how the accounting for assets and liabilities will be different under IFRS
  • They will also provide an appreciation of the accounting choices that companies will need to make before changeover
  • Participants will also be able to assess the effect of those choices on bank financial statements and internal systems
